Heejung Chung

Heejung was an MPhil student in the CDT in Computational Methods for Materials Science MPhil+PhD programme. Her work was in scraping data from literature using natural language processing tools like the Molecular Engineering group's ChemDataExtractor. Using these data, she trained generative machine learning (ML) models to discover new materials for battery applications.

Heejung received her BS in Computer Science and minor in Materials Science from Stanford University. Her undergraduate research projects included: (i) using computer vision to generate a transportation infrastructure database for urban planners and (ii) identifying the local crystal structures around simulated atoms with ML.
