Haoqian joined the MolE group as a PhD student in 2021 after receiving his Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University. His previous research was mainly focused on the design of graphene-based single-atom catalysts for the electro-catalysis of some key reactions (ORR, CO2RR, et al.) based on DFT simulations.
Here in the MolE group, Haoqian is trying to develop a theoretical understanding of ruthenium SO2-based crystalline materials that undergo SO2 linkage photoisomerization. This understanding will help to unveil the black box of the nano-optomechanical transduction process and provide mechanistic insights into the search for other reliable and efficient ruthenium SO2-based transducers. When he is not in the lab, Haoqian can be found painting, jogging or singing karaoke.
