Shu is a first year PhD student working on the prediction of new functional materials for battery applications. Specifically, he will use data-mining and machine learning techniques to discover new materials of device components of batteries. He will mine relevant data from an auto-generated materials database via the software ChemDataExtractor.
Shu joins the group from the University of Manchester, where he gained a MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering. His final year project focused on the automatic classification and quantitative analysis of material microstructures using machine learning and computer vision methods.
