Tze-Chia Lin completed his PhD in 2012, working on the experimental validation aspects of this project. Before coming to Cambridge, he worked for HC Photonics Corporation, Hsinchu, Taiwan (2002–8) being promoted successfully from an R&D Engineer, to Section Manager, to R&D Department Leader and Senior Engineer (working with annual budget $1,000,000). There he developed periodically-poled non-linear optical materials, advanced ferroelectric crystal engineering, designed/processed/optimized non-linear optical waveguides, and automated non-linear optical fabrication/testing processes. He holds ~20 patents from this work. He was supported by the ‘Studying Abroad Scholarship’ provided by the Taiwan Government.
