Wenyan Shi

Wenyan is a first year PhD student working on the synthesis and characterisation of new materials for energy storage technologies. She performs X-ray and neutron reflectometry as the central characterisation method of the devices that she is designing with the support of electrochemical diagnostics at STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

She has joined the MolE research group from the University of New South Wales (Australia) where she completed Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering. Her honors research focused on the suppression of dendrites growth for lithium sulfur batteries by electromagnetically alloying aluminium on lithium surface, as published in Energy & Environmental Science. She also has research experience synthesizing reduced graphene oxide based on cathode study for sodium poly-sulfides batteries in Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).
