Yulin Cai is a first-year PhD student in the Molecular Engineering Group. His work involves developing a machine learning approach for particle instance segmentation using 3D electron microscopy, based on the group-developed software ImageDataExtractor. Prior to Cambridge, Yulin studied at Tsinghua University focusing on applied machine learning and computer vision technologies.
Yulin has a multidisciplinary academic background, majoring in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering and Physics for his Batchelor's, Master's and PhD degree, respectively. He also loves to persue his hobby in software development. For his PhD, Yulin hopes to devote his original and solid contribution to frontiers of molecular physics assisted by the prospective power of artificial intelligence.
